As school is coming to a close, every year the Freshmen class will take a class trip to Mackinac Island for Michigan History. The day began as all participating students met at K-Mart at 3:30 in the morning. From there, we began the long trip driving north to Mackinac.
Even though it was a long ride it was still fun hanging out with your friends in the car. We would play games, watch movies, sleep, and talk. Around 7:30 everyone would stop, eat breakfast and stretch. Then we would be on our way. We ended up getting to Mackinaw city around 9 o'clock.
The first thing we did was go to Fort Michilimackinac . There we got to watch a cannon being shot, old muskets being shot, and explore the fort. After that, we went to the ferry to head over to Mackinac Island . The beautiful ferry ride was about 16 minuets and included a scenic view of the Mackinac Bridge from underneath.
Once we got to the Island we went and saw another Fort on Mackinac Island . There we also got to see a cannon being fired, muskets being shot, and eat our lunch. When we were done there, we got in groups and explored the Island . Everyone got an extra credit scavenger hunt packet to do on the Island if you wished. The island was beautiful.
A really cool thing on the island is that there is no motorized vehicles so either your rode a horse and buggy, or you rode your bike. We were very blessed to be there on a very nice day, it was warm, sunny, and it did not rain. Everyone had a great time seeing the shops, buying souvenirs, eating Mackinac's famous fudge and Ice cream.
At 5:00 we got back on the ferry to head back. To finish our trip we all ate at Pizza Hut for dinner. Then we got back in the car and headed back to Muskegon . We all were exhausted from the long day in Mackinac Island .
