This past couple days the Varsity Girls Soccer Team has been doing AMAZING! On Friday, we mercied Potter’s House 8 to 0. On Saturday, we beat Heritage Kalamazoo 4 to 0!
On Friday, we all came out ready to play. We were excited for the game and were really looking forward to a great game. We started the game off very intense! So intense that we scored our first goal within the first 40 seconds. After we had scored our first goal, we didn’t come back as strong. We had a few scary moments when someone would make a bad touch and have to recover. With twenty-two minutes left in the first half Brea Hinken scored the second goal of the game! Brea’s goal set off a large chain of goals which made our score 6 to 0 by the end of the first half with Brianna having 3 goals, Sydni having 1, Sophie having 1, and Brea having 1.
At the very end of the first half Potter’s House almost got a goal! It was scary. Right when the buzzer rang the girl from Potter’s House shot the ball and it went in. But because the ball didn’t completely cross the line before the buzzer rang Calvary was still having a perfect shut out game!
In the second half we only played for 7 minutes with Sophia scoring the last two goals needed to mercy Potter’s House. It was a great game played by our girls and I’m very proud of what we did.
In Saturday’s game, we had a little harder time starting off our game. We all came ready to play but our touches were off and we had quite a few scary moments when Kalamazoo would get a break away. Thankfully, we recovered and didn’t let any goals go in. Overall though, we finished the game strong and Brianna, Sophia, and Sydni all scored the goals. It was an awesome, but cold, game to watch.
Overall, we are 4 and 1 for our conference putting us second in the conference! The varsity team plays again on Monday against Calvary of Holland at Holland ’s field, and on Tuesday at home versus Zion . Come out and support your favorite Calvary Eagles!
